10 Romantic Winter Dates to Heat Things Up This Christmas

By David Carter
Summertime makes it easy to plan romantic date ideas; walks on the beach, amusement parks and romantic hikes are all awesome dates, but once the snow starts flying you can’t really do them anymore. Just because the temperatures start falling though doesn’t mean the romantic spark has to fade out.
While winter might add a little chill into the air, it’s also a perfect opportunity to try out some fun and exciting dates. If you’re looking for romantic date ideas, I have a few that you can try out with someone special. Coming up with winter date ideas just requires a little creativity, as well as a warm coat.
1. Go sledding
Sure, you mostly see the under-10 crowd hurling themselves downhill during the winter, but sledding is a cheap, easy and fun activity for people of any age to do. Plus, there’s nothing like snuggling up with your loved one while you’re riding down the hill on a sled.
2. Go on a walk through a park or nature preserve
If you’re looking for winter date ideas that involve the outdoors, a beautiful wintery stroll through the woods is sure to get you into a romantic mood. Grab your hat, gloves and a warm coat and check out the sights and sounds of the outdoors. You’ll see lots of animals and plants during the winter that you’d never see in the warmer months.
Dealing with some knee-deep snow? No problem, just slap on some snowshoes or cross-country skis and trek through the woods. Not only will you have fun, but you’ll get a great workout.
3. Cuddle in front of the fire
We all love hanging out in front of a warm fireplace when there’s a chill in the air, but it’s even more fun when you have an attractive person cuddling beside you. Spark up the fireplace and watch movies, make s’mores, play some board games and just enjoy each other’s company.
4. Go to an ice rink
Yeah, this one’s pretty cliché, but I think it’s still an excellent date. As long as you manage to stay upright, ice skating is tons of fun, and it’s also a nice excuse to just hold hands and talk to each other. Guys, women love these cheesy romantic things from time to time, so slap on some skates and impress your girl.
5. Chill out at the spa
The cold weather can be hell on your skin, not to mention what the the holidays does to your stress levels, so chill out with your honey at a day spa. Get a romantic couple’s massage followed by a yummy lunch. It’s a unique, relaxing and romantic date that your partner’s sure to remember.
6. Have a movie marathon
Alright, we’ve spent a lot of time outside and sometimes that cold air just gets to be too much. In that case, rent a few movies, grab some popcorn and other snacks and lock yourself and your love inside for the day. If you want to be a little creative, come up with a theme for all the movies you watch: romantic wintertime dramas, perhaps?
7. Take a warm dip
I’m not the adventurous type, so jumping in ice-cold water during the winter doesn’t sound like much fun. However, a warm dip in a hot tub or bath tub sounds like a heavenly idea during the winter. A warm soak with your partner is not only sexy, but it’s a nice way to warm up after a chilly afternoon outside.
Make things extra romantic by surrounding the tub with candles and pouring a couple of glasses of wine. A lounge in the bath is sure to way to beat a frigid night.
8. Grab some warm drinks
If you’re looking for a fast afternoon date, grabbing coffee is fun any time of the year. It gives you and your date a chance to try out new coffees and teas, chat and just enjoy spending time together.
What can be even more fun is making your own hot drinks. Try making different drinks with coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Or you can warm yourself up the old-fashioned way by adding some brandy or whiskey to your favorite beverages.
9. Have a game night
It’s a classic standby whether you’re with your partner or your best friends — order a pizza and break out your favorite games. Whether you’re into video games or if board games are more your speed, playing games is always a fun way to spend the night. Make things a little more interesting and romantic by making some fun bets while you’re playing.
10. Play in the snow
Hey, the sky is giving you a free activity, so take advantage of it while you can. Have a snowball fight, build a snowman or make some snow angels. It’s good exercise, a fun way to spend the day and your date will sure want to cuddle after all that time in the cold.
So as you can see, it’s pretty easy to plan a date even if it’s not 80 degrees and sunny. Fun, romantic date ideas are possible any time of the year, including when the snow’s flying.
